"Get out of Jail Free"

Not that I feel like life is "jail", but today I felt like I had been handed a "free day" card.
You know, one of those days where from the very beginning something happens outside your control that just extinguishes the rest of the day's plans?
As soon as you hear the news, your sad. This emotion is immediately followed by the daunting feeling of having an "empty" day ... then the feeling of freedom comes over you as you realize you can do anything you choose, because you aren't really suppose to be where you are and no one else is the wiser! This is how I felt today.
Looking back on the day, I think I spent it pretty well. For a good portion of it I was in a small room (former bathroom) tearing up tile, chipping away concrete, carrying heavy broken tile up and down stairs, and mixing and laying new concrete. While this may not sound exciting, there was never a dull moment because of the people I was working with!
Actually, for the past two months I have been working alongside or hanging out with this amazing couple from Kansas. They are both extremely gifted people as well as kind, generous and very entertaining. They invite me over often for food, movies or just to talk (three of my favorite things in the world!) We have also played some Euchre together! I just love listening to their experienced stories and random adventures! When I am with them I leave smiling, greatly encouraged and never with out a hug!
I am truly thankful to have this couple and people like them in my life!
