Eating!

As I throw together a quick lunch for myself, I stop to ponder how my eating habits have changed since leaving the US ... actually, not much. I still prefer the invite to eat at someone else's home over anything, but if I am forced to "fend for myself", these are the usuals:
For breakfast I usually grab a bowl of granola cerel and/or fruit. The difference -I am making the granola instead of Wal-Mart.
For lunch a Pb&J or a warm Ham and Cheese sandwhich accompanied by a carrot and fishies! The difference - The bread is WAY better here! Also, I would choose lunchmeat turkey over ham any day in the US and I have to cut and peel my own carrot. And while the fish crackers are the same shape as ones in the US, they don't come in different flavors. But I like them for who they are!
For dinner I treat myself to a real variety, usual settleling on 1 of 4 things: stir fry, salad (if I made it to the bazar for spinach leaves), something with potatos or something with noodles. I try to keep things cheap and simple ... but I play around with spices and combinations when possible.
Dessert? Of course! Splurges include the occassional bag of almonds or walnuts as well as some bland cookies to put Nutella on! Below are my pathetic atempt at making sugar cookies for my neighbors. Needless to say they ended up in the trash can.
So as you can see, even though I live very far from home, I still eat VERY American!

  1. Jules,

As always.. I love reading about all your adventures across the globe. The foods you listed sound delicious. Have you tried any new foods over there that you really enjoy?

Jenna was talking the other day about getting her visa for her trip to Azerbijan and I found myself wishing that I was going with her to see you! Miss you friend! :)
