World-class Remodeling

Over the last month, the English training center I work for has be remodeling some of their rooms. And it's been long over due! They haven't had the money or the time to put into the remodeling efforts, but a couple from Kansas got the ball rolling with offering to redo the tile work in the bathroom (little did they know what a monster with the uneven floor they had volunteered for!)

Alongside the bathroom, the teachers and administration worked together on a classroom. Now, I have done my fair share of remodeling and handy work with my father growing up, but nothing prepared me for how things are done here. First we sanded and scraped off the previous paint. Then we filled in holes, squared off window frames and reshaped the actual door with a putty plaster. Then we painted. The wooden doors were also sanded and re-varnished because over the years students had written English words and phrases on them for cheating purposes.

This process has since been completed on 2 classrooms and the bathroom. And even though it's not a five-star school, it has done wonders to the classroom environment of these rooms!

Also, there was a lot of hard work put into the school yard. What use to be a stretch of uneven pavement and concrete blocks, is now a level area of dirt with hopeful grass trying to peak its way out despite unfavorable odds. Come on grass!
