New experiences

In the last week I have had a handful of new experiences.

Last Thursday I got to run down the water truck. Big tank trucks bring drinking water around the city. But in order to get the water you need for the week, you have to know approximately when they are coming and listen for their high-pitched horns to tell you when they are near by. Then you grab your jugs, pay the driver and fill up your jugs from the spickets on the back. In my case, we needed four jugs, but I still only have two arms ... so I had to run him down the second time!

Another experience was the amazingly awesome bread shop! Fresh "tendeer" bread is one of the best smells (and tastes) in the world! The breadmakers slap the dough to the inside of a stone well with a fire in the middle ... and the bread bakes on the wall! Yummy!

On sunday afternoons we have English Club. This sunday one of the girls I got to know when I was here back in March came and we got to catch up. (Hopefully we will continue to meet up.) Also there was a team from Minnesota that came into town! So where there are new people, many pictures are taken!
In their typical pictures, no one is smiling. So we tried that first.

And then decided we should try an American picture! I like this one better :)

Sunday evening I was invited to dinner at one of my fellow teacher's flat. (Let's call her Ali. She is in a gray shirt in the picture above.) Ali and her son recently moved to their own place and she was excited to have a visitor. We had a great visit and some good conversations ... one about "talking to Him"! She isn't a believer, but seems open!
